I was immediately awe struck by the green forest moss covering the rocks and trees at Nemacolin this spring. I am inspired to incorporate the shapes, textures, and colors of the forest into my artwork. My environment has always impacted what I make and how I go about it. From my picture books to my abstract art, the sights and sounds of my everyday life are crucial to my creative process. Growing up in North Texas suburbia, the big sky, telephone poles, litter, American flags, and grackles greatly effected my art. For my residency, I am surrounded by nature in the moist spring and new motifs are already starting to take form!
Nemacolin Woodlands Resort
I arrived at Nemacolin Woodslands Resort and Spa in Pennsylvania on April 1st for an artist residency! I am one of the many wonderful artists that will rotate through the home studio named Waldon Pond on the campus of Nemacolin. Waldon Pond was remodeled with studio space on the ground level for this brand new program! I can see the golf course and pond from my desk which is inspiring me endlessly. I love walking up the path through the forest to the main Chateaux and Lodge.
